About the Series

History

From its beginnings in 2016 as the Cobleskill Sunshine Series, our goal has always been to reward exhibitors who supported the open horse shows held at the Cobleskill Fairgrounds. Later, the series grew to include Yo-Sco-Haro Riding Club, Classic Country Horse Association, and the Schoharie County Fair. This is a place where horsemen and women of all ages and backgrounds can enjoy friendly competition while gaining experience for themselves and for their horses. Our mission is to offer a fun, safe, and welcoming environment with something for everyone.

Year-End Awards

When the series’ first started, there were season end awards for 10 divisions. This year, the Sunshine Horse Show Series will be offering year end awards in 45 divisions, including the Saddle Up for Sunshine Trail Riding/Driving award. The Series culminates in a Year-End Awards Banquet where we thank our volunteers and sponsors for their support, while recognizing the growth and achievement of our exhibitors.

Current Needs

We are a hard-working, volunteer-run local organization. Rising costs coupled with reduced attendance during the COVID-19 pandemic has placed increased strain on small horse shows across the country. Our numbers are dwindling, and we are trying our hardest to keep the showing tradition alive. In addition to financial support, we are in dire need of more participating clubs, more exhibitors, and more volunteers. You can help by donating items, volunteering your time, sponsoring a class, or purchasing advertising space in the banquet brochure.

We hope to inspire more people to participate (especially young riders) by providing classes, prizes, and divisions to suit every rider and driver regardless of discipline or background!

Your Generosity helps us to continue this legacy.

Without you, we wouldn't exist!
